High pressure
Rated ASME Class 150 to 2500 and PN10 to PN100, well above the 40 bar limit of rubber-steel gaskets.
Inner ring protection
Prevents the winding from buckling inward, and shields it from flow erosion and solids in the bore.
Compression stop
The outer ring centres the gasket on the bolts and prevents over-compression.
No galvanic attack
The non-conductive PTFE filler does not pit carbon steel flange faces in wet service, as graphite can.
CONSTRUCTION

A metal winding sealed between two rings
-
Winding: SS316L V-profile strip (other alloys on request)
-
Filler: PTFE (flexible graphite or mica on request)
-
Inner ring: SS316L or carbon steel
-
Outer ring: carbon steel, zinc-plated or epoxy-coated
-
Marking: ASME B16.20 colour code and stamping.

Temperature range
Suitable for
Not suitable for
PTFE
up to +260 °C
Water, wastewater, chemicals, wet carbon steel flanges
Fire-safe duty, temperatures above 260 °C
Flexible graphite
up to +550 °C
Steam, hydrocarbons, high temperature, fire-safe duty
Wet carbon steel service, strong oxidisers
Mica
up to +1000 °C
Exhaust gas and very high temperature
Tight-sealing liquid service
Temperatures are filler limits. The actual limit is the lower of the filler and winding-metal ratings.
